In the World of Industrial Design, Safety is Job One
Geometrica's focus on safety affects every client and every project. Each application is designed and engineered to meet or excced health, safety and environmental standards. Structural accessories are available to further ensure the safety of workers, to protect manufacturing sites from typhoon-force winds and brutal snow loads, and to safeguard raw material stockpiles from combustion (among other hazards).
Among Geometrica's options for material equipment are openings at the apex or the side. Penthouse enclosures can be used to protect top loading conveyors, while flashing can be used for side penetrations. When necessary, domes can be engineered to partially support the conveyor, or allow independent conveyor movement.
Ventilation and Access Openings
Apex and circumferential openings are practical solutions for natural ventilation. Access openings for equipment, vehicles and personnel can be designed in any shape or size. Customized doors, frames, canopies and hatches are available for all openings.
Translucent panels contribute natural lighting, energy cost savings and additional beauty to our structures. The customized symmetrical patterns we create distinguish our designs. Geometrica's cladding and translucent panels are designed with compatible profiles. No special framing or equipment is necessary. The result is a continuous surface that provides effective sealing and water drainage, and efficient natural light.
Ladders and Walkways
Geometrica galvanized steel ladders are built for safety, using non-slip threads. Our galvanized steel walkways are provided with OSHA-approved guide rails and nonslip grating. Ladders and walkways provide access to electrical and ventilation systems. Mechanical penthouses, conveyors, galleries and safety exits.
Several anchoring system options are available, including cast-in-place (first or second pour), welded to embedded plates, and drilled anchors.
Geometrica's Corporate Philosophy
A culture of safety begins within an organization and extends to its products and services. Geometrica implemented a quality management system (QMS) through an internal company wiki, which helped achieve safety certification status in a minimal time. A paper entitled Using a wiki to implement a QMS was written to explain the steps for the implementation. It has been published in several journals and websites featuring the enormous contribution of a wiki for such an endeavor.
After nine months of developing a wiki-based Quality Management System, Geometrica was visited by BSI personnel and successfully passed the ISO 9001:2008 auditing process. This certification advances all of Geometrica's values (safety certificate number: OHS 570040 / quality certificate number FM 544228) and was the first in a series of safety initiatives, as follows.
The OHSAS 18001
Geometrica then achieved the OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) certification created by an association of national standard bodies, certification bodies / registrars, and specialist consultancies as an international standard designed to help organizations formulate occupational health and safety policies and objectives. It is a framework for managing and controlling health and safety risks in the workplace, aiding in regulatory compliance, and improving safety performance.
OHSAS 18001 was first released in 1999 and revised in 2007 based on the two concepts of continual improvement and regulatory compliance. It is applicable to any organization, large or small within any business sector, and is largely aligned with the structure of ISO 14001. Certification is only awarded to those companies that provide evidence of developing and implementing a culture centered on safety and health awareness and improvement, through procedures, programs and records of their safe activities. Individually and as a company, at Geometrica we explicitly value ethics, safety, quality, learning and continuous improvement. This certification advances all of our values (safety certificate number: OHS 570040 / quality certificate number FM 544228).
ISO 3834-2 Welding Quality Certification
As an additional safety initiative, Geometrica achieved its compliance certification for ISO 3834-2 “Quality Requirements for Fusion Welding of Metallic Materials – Part 2: Comprehensive Quality Requirements” by TWI Certification Ltd of Cambridge, UK. Geometrica's welding management system meets or exceeds the requirements set out by European Welding Federation and the International Institute of Welding.
It provides an authoritative third party reference of commercial value for clients, and demonstrates an additional tier of welding excellence as a supplement to Geometrica's ISO 9001:2008 standards.
The company's co-founder and vice president Roel Castaño is a certified welding inspector (CWI) and member of the American Welding Society (AWS). Structural designer Canek Rubio and Production Manager José Luis Urbina are also AWS CWIs. Plant manager Rogelio Contreras is Certified Associate Welding Inspector and specialist in nondestructive examination methods VT, PT and UT. Quality Assurance personnel Mara Faz and Amaro Reza are CAWI certified.
Bulk storage structures are customized to suit each project's specific storage requirements, handling equipment, site requirements and design preferences — all with safety in mind. From non-slip surfaces to safety exits, Geometrica's built-in features and accessories ensure the highest levels of safety performance.
