Geodesic Domes for Piles of Irregular Shape

Bulk material piles often exist wherever space was available when the stock was first required. These piles are not always conveniently shaped. They may be located on rough slopes close to the quarry or may be continuously recreated with moveable conveyor or truck drops and reshaped with earthmovers. They may have been encroached on by later development. Likely, the eventual need to cover the pile was never anticipated.

Geometrica has developed technology that allows the efficient coverage of even the most irregular shapes, while still benefiting from the advantages of domes: Freedome®. The geometric constraints of the traditional dome are removed, and structures can take on creative and effective forms.

Freedomes may also be used to enclose open ended storage structures in the most efficient manner, as done at the Escondida mine in Chile (right).

Geometrica has built the longest industrial domes in the world using Freedome technology, achieving major spans of 224m.
